Heathfield is a market centre on the ridge which dominates the area. There is a Sunday morning market for local produce by the Crown Inn. Gibraltar Tower was built in honour of General Eliott, who bought Heathfield Park with prize money gained in Havana and later commanded the garrison of Gibraltar in the siege of 1779-83. It houses a military museum and stands in a 200-acre wildlife park.
