Visit Hailsham East Sussex and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast, hotel or holiday apartment accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
Hailsham is a small, prosperous cattle market town two miles through woods from Michelham. Its 15th century church has eight bells which used to ring a curfew at 8pm.
Hailsham was mentioned in the Domesday book as “Hamelesham”, and was later recorded as being called “Helesham” in 1189. The name Hailsham derives from Old English meaning “Homestead or enclosure of a man called Hægel”
