Visit Winchcombe Gloucestershire and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast, hotel or holiday home accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
The town of Winchcombe was once the capital of the Saxon kingdom of Mercia.
Winchcombe parish church was founded in 1465 and owes its present form to wealthy local woolmen. Note the 40+ gargoyles, the Winchcombe Worthies, on the exterior, said to represent unpopular monks, a sign of dissatisfaction with the abbey at the time.
The Railway Museum, with a collection of memorabilia, is temporarily closed.
Visit the Winchcombe Museum with a folk and local history collection including police uniforms and finds from Belas Knap Neolithic barrow.
Sudeley Castle, with its Gardens and Exhibitions is superb.
