Wimbledon is a residential area in Greater London world-famous for its international tennis championships held since 1877. The 1045-acre common, on which stands a windmill built in 1817, is a gorse, bracken and tree-covered plateau, excellent for both walking and riding. (It's also home to The Wombles!)
