The villages of Morecambe and Heysham have merged into one seaside resort. There are spectacular views of the highest Lake District hills, and fine sunsets across Morecambe Bay. The remains of a pre-Conquest church, with graves carved out of rock, stand on a hill overlooking Heysham. The walk across Morecambe Bay at low tide from Hest Bank to Grange-over-Sands is a unique experience. It can also be hazardous, as there are three tidal rivers to ford, and walkers are permitted to cross only if accompanied by an official guide.
Of course it's the beach that's the big attraction.
