Visit Midsomer Norton Somerset and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast, hotel or holiday home accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
Midsomer Norton is a small town which shares a coalfield with neighbouring Radstock. The name “Norton” is derived from Old English meaning “North farmstead or village”, where as the name “Midsomer” isn't derived, as you'd expect, from the River Somer, which flows through the town, but from Midsummer Day, the date of the festival of the church's patron saint, St John the Baptist. In the church is a statue of Charles II, which is said to have hidden in nearby Welton Manor during the Civil War.
