Visit Methil Fife and the surrounding villages and stay in bandb, hotel or self catering cottage accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
The sea-port village of Methil in Fife is the oldest part of the burgh of Buckhaven and Methil, and was a burgh of barony in 1665. A harbour was built about that time. The coal industry was well founded, but by the mid-19th century it had to stop owing to flooding of the mines; they were started again later. Methil, though primarily a port, retains some features of its origin as a mining village. The docks were especially important in both world wars when they became a convoy centre.
