Knebworth, Hertfordshire, is famous for open air rock and pop concerts at Knebworth House. The village is close to the town of Stevenage. People have inhabited this place since Neolithic times.
Knebworth House is mostly the work of the Lytton family. Sir Robert Lytton began building a Tudor mansion in 1492 on the site of an earlier castle. The 19th century Lyttons, including the 1st Lord Lytton, novelist and politician, rebuilt this in Gothic style. The church, in the 260 acre park, was built in the 12th century and is full of 18th century family memorials.
