Chipping Sodbury has Georgian brick houses mingled with Cotswold stone cottages. The fine 14th century church has a high tower with pinnacles; the pulpit is entered through a hole in an adjacent pier, and there is curious carving on the chancel arch.
At Little Sodbury, 1 mile north, is a Romano-British camp occupied by the saxons before the battle of Dyrham in 577 and by Edward IV in 1471 when he was preparing for the battle of Tewksbury.
