Visit Bangor Gwynedd and the surrounding villages and stay in bandb, hotel or holiday cottage accommodation provided by BedPosts members.
Bangor is the university and cathedral city of North Wales. It gets its name from the protective fence or ‘bangor’ of a 6th century monastery.
The 19th century cathedral was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, architect of London's Albert Memorial.
A mile to the east, Penrhyn Castle was started in 1827 and built with a neo-Gothic marble exterior. Its boundary wall measures 7 miles. The Castle is now a National Trust property and contains early locomotive trains, stuffed birds and animals, a collection of over 1000 dolls and a 4 ton-slate bedstead. The castle grounds are home to the Llanfair-ym-Muallt Pottery having a retail shop open to the general public.
